The new Fishtek quick release lamprey panels have now been installed at Brahan weir on the river Conon near Inverness. The weir was previously a barrier to fish and lamprey and the installation of the lamprey pass and two Larinier fish passes (also designed and fabricated by Fishtek) will vastly improve habitat connectivity for migratory species. The vertical lamprey panels are particularly suitable at sites that have large fluctuations in the upstream water level or where space is restricted. They require little maintenance and are quick and easy to remove/replace for occasional debris clearance. The photos below show the lamprey panels at Brahan installed within the Larinier channel, but they could equally be installed as a stand alone pass.
