On the face of it it seems fairly obvious – in order to limit the negative impacts of a dam on fish, get fish biologists involved! This however is the conclusion of a paper published in the journal Nature Climate Change and discussed in a recent article in the New York Times. In the article, specific reference is made to improvements at the Xayaburi dam following advice on the fisheries aspects of the project. Much of the advice regarding these improvements was provided by Fishtek, including specific advice from the fish tests we carried out at site.
